After fighting ovarian cancer for four years, Karen Sue (Formento) Jones, of Lincoln, NE passed in her home, surrounded by her loving family on August 8, 2016. She was 61 years old.
Karen is survived by her partner, Mike Ditton of Bennet, NE; her children, Lanessa Jones of Lincoln, NE, Nicole (Jeremiah) Johnson of Lincoln, NE, Rick (Charley) Pieper-McEntire of Tulsa, OK, Doug Reese of Owasso, OK; her siblings, Brenda Rogers of Leonard, MO, Rick Formento of St. Joseph, MO and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roland Jones of Bevier, MO and Richard Pieper of Lincoln, NE; her parents, Joe and Mary Formento of Bevier, MO.
Karen was born on June 14, 1955 in Macon, MO. She graduated from Bevier High School in 1973. She married Roland Jones, her high school sweetheart on August 28, 1976. They had two beautiful daughters and lived a happy short life together. After a tragic car accident took Roland’s life, Karen met Richard Pieper who became a wonderful husband and father.
Karen was a loving mother and homemaker who was dedicated to her daughters. She enjoyed and was an accomplished seamstress (making clothes and Halloween costumes, etc.), she enjoyed crafts, cooking, baking, exploring new recipes, motorcycles, classic rock and was an accomplished pianist. When she was younger, she was an active member of Bevier Baptist Church. She encouraged her children to pursue their goals. She was a gentle, patient, vivacious, generous, witty, kind hearted, amazing person who loved God and was passionate about music. Most importantly, she loved life and lived it to its fullest.
A celebration of Karen’s life is scheduled for Saturday, August 13, 2016, 2:00pm at Roper & Sons Funeral Home, with refreshments to follow at her daughter’s home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
Because of Richard Pieper’s service to the Shriners and the assistance they provided to Karen’s family they would like to give back to the organization.
