John Franklin Penn, 86, Lincoln, passed away April 4, 2017. Born July 25, 1930 in Des Moines, Iowa to Thornton and Marie (Franklin) Penn. John served in the U. S. Marine Corps from 1949 and retiring in 1963, he also served with the Nebraska Air Guard from 1972-1983. Following his retirement, he worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads in the repair shop. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Family members include his wife, Joan; children, John Penn, Colorado, Mike (April) Penn, Lincoln, Laura Penn, Omaha, Sheila Penn, Karol (Doug) Frye, Karon Penn, Shane (Nikki) Krause, Shelly (Alfred) Berchtold, Rachel (Bob) Rybinski, and Becky (Bruce) Rowley, all of Lincoln; 19 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; his first wife, Wanda; and brother, Mark.
