After working with John for 30 years at GY my best time came after we retired and he hired me to help him run a home irrigation warehouse. Here he introduced me to some great people in the sprinkler business: Chad, Matt, Judson, Darrel and Bubba and too many to list. I will also never forget the Saturday morning golf dates with John, Milt, Wes and BobG. It was a bunch of knuckleheads heading out when it was still almost too dark to see the balls. And don’t forget the Shooter’s Scrambles. RIP big fella.

Dear Robert Bilxer, Thank you for sharing your MCRD at San Diego story. 🇺🇸Thank you for service, too!! Virginia was my mother who is John’s oldest sister that passed away a year on October 6. My son and Virginia’s grandson choose to complete the MCRD at San Diego. It will be easy for me to remember when my Uncle John passed away. The day my son graduated from MCRD and we land in Denver that evening we received word from his son and my aunts that he passed away. He will greatly be missed. I will miss his smile because it reminded me of my Grandma Ann, who I still miss😢🤗

John was a great mentor to so many in the labor movement. I worked with him on many organizing campaigns around the country, he advocated better lives for so many working families, but his pride was mostly bragging on his grandson Eli! He will be missed

So sorry to hear of John’s Passing, I served and meet John in 1965, John, myself and about 16 others were headed to Boot Camp in San Diego Cal (MCRD) in December 26,1965. He and I were with a group of Recruits from the Marine Reserve Unit in Lincoln Nebr. It was a crazy, but a interesting Time. We stood on those yellow footprints and all wonder what we had done. John and I served together all through boot camp and ITR . After that, We all went different directiions for our MOS schools. Once back in Lincoln we served together in our Reserve Unit. John was a nice guy and always fun to be around. We had some good times together while in California and in Lincoln. Life went on and I would run into John around Lincoln. Usually would see him on the Golf Courses in and around Lincoln. We both seemed to like to play that silly game. So Sorry for your lost, I know he will be missed My Sincere Condolence Semper Fi , my brother
