John David Harrington, 60, of Lincoln, Nebraska died, February 19, 2018. John was born December 27, 1957, in Lincoln to Donald P and Joan I Harrington. He graduated from Southeast High School and was a member of the varsity swim team. After high school he joined the Marines and then attended Merced Junior College in California and the University of Nebraska Lincoln where he was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and Pi Lambda Theta.
John was kind, grateful, caring, loving, courageous, just, selfless, hopeful, tolerant, resilient, forgiving, thankful, gracious, nonjudgmental, accepting, brave, strong, true and generous. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking and backpacking as a youth and later working in the soil in his garden. He always enjoyed socializing and one of the cruelest parts of his illness was that it kept him at home and away from people.
