John C. Novak, 78, of Lincoln, died Wednesday (2-27-13). Born (8-15-34) in Omaha, NE to John J. and Veronica (Belick) Novak. Retired Military Veteran after 23 years. Served in the U.S. Navy, Air Force and Army. Retired from NPPD. Former K-9 handler for Lincoln Police Dept. Member: Christ Lutheran Church, Rebels Auto Club, American Legion Post #3, D.A.V. and V.F.W. Post #3606. John celebrated 34 years of sobriety.
Survived by wife, Pat; sons, John (Catherine), David (Dobbie), Mike (Deb), Douglas (Shelly Waldo), and Toby Chapman, all of Lincoln, Steve (Connie), Seward, NE; daughter, Tammy Chapman, Bella Vista, AR; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brother, Wayne (Norma) Chaddock, Leawood, KS. Preceded in death by parents, brother, Willard Chaddock, grandson, Derek Novak, father-in-law, Orville Holle, sister-in-law, Sharon Schoenleber.
Funeral Service: 10:00 am Monday (3-4-13) Christ Lutheran Church, 4325 Sumner St. with Rev. Dr. Luke Schnake officiating.
Memorials to Lincoln Police Dept. K-9 Division, Independence Center Alumni Association or Wounded Warriors.
Visitation: 9-8 pm Sunday with family present from 4-6 pm at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ St., and one hour prior to service time at the church.
