John Byron Norwich McLennan, 59, passed away Friday December 25, 2015 at his home in Lincoln NE. John was born October 25, 1956 in Casper, WY to Jack and E. Sue (Fundis) McLennan. John graduated from high school, Casper College and the University of Wyoming.
He moved to Omaha NE for training as a Medical Technologist, becoming a member of ASCP, and working primarily in blood banking for 33 years. Most recently he worked for the American Red Cross as a Reference Lab Tech, retiring to care for his mother in 2013.
John married Rev. Jamie (Peery) Norwich McLennan on September 2, 1989. John and Jamie co-parented 3 Exchange Daughters from Thailand, South Korea and Tajikistan.
John is survived by his wife, Jamie, daughters Joy (Chanyoung) Lee and Bonu (Kharyniso) Yarbabaeva (Adam Gerhardstein), his sister Margaret (Mike) Schilling, his brother Ken (Karynne) McLennan, Brothers-in-Law Roger (Sharon) Peery and Alan (Brenda) Peery, Sister-in-Law Janelle (Peter) Durham, Parents-in-Law Ross and Alice Peery and Margo and Jack Teague, numerous nephews and nieces, great-nieces and nephews, cousins.
John received much care from many added “family” and members of the New Visions Community United Methodist Church, especially during the last three months.
A Celebration of Life will be held December 31, 2015, 11:00 a.m. at New Visions Community-Calvary UMC 1610 S. 11th St. Lincoln.
