Joey Fletcher

May 24, 1952 - October 3, 2025

It is with great love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joey Fletcher, 73, of Lincoln NE who left us on 10/3/2025.

 

She was born on May 24, 1952 in Broken Bow, NE to Delores Elaine and Joe Poland. After growing up in Sargeant NE, she attended Nebraska Christian College and UNL, graduating with a degree in Speech Pathology.

Joey will be remembered for her service on the mission field and for her love of working with children.   She was employed for over 10 years in the Lincoln Public Schools system and brought joy to those around her.

She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years Roger Fletcher, her son David and grandchildren Hudson and Avery, daughter Sarah and her spouse Marcus Hairston, son Daniel and grandson Harrison, her brother John Poland, among many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her infant brother Mikel, Elaine Poland (mother), Joe Poland (father), and Emily Fletcher (daughter-in-law). Her memory will be cherished forever by all who knew her.

A visitation will be held on Friday 10/10/25 from 4pm-6pm at Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege, Lincoln NE 68505.  A service to celebrate her life will also be held there on Saturday 10/11/25 at 10:30am, with a light lunch and reception to follow.  Friends and family are invited to attend and share memories in her honor.

Joey and I met and became friends at Pible Bible Camp when we were young. We then attended Nebraska Christian College and were in the Gospel Troubadours quartet! Wonderful memories of years ago! My heart and prayers go out to Roger and the family.
