Jody “Joe” Jay Boone, 71, of Lincoln, passed away January 15, 2021 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Joe was born April 27, 1949 in Sheldon, IA to Bernard H. and Clara (Hector) Boone. Joe attended Iowa State University before serving in the Air Force for four years during the Vietnam War. He later served in the Minnesota Air National Guard for 18 years where he proudly worked on C-130 Hercules Aircraft calling him to serve in the first Gulf War, Operation Desert Shield. He retired from the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in 2015. While Joe’s life took him on many deployments and adventures across the globe, he was happiest tinkering with cars in his garage with a cup of coffee at his side.
Preceded in death by his father, Joe leaves behind his wife of 38 years, Jennifer; his mother, Clara; his sisters Barbara (Brent) Graves, MaryAnn Boes; his children, Amanda (Erik) Granse, Erick Tieva, Christine (Steven Carlson) Boone, Heather (Tristan) Johnson; his five grandchildren, Isabella Granse, Elaina Granse, Adelaide Granse, Penelope Johnson, Hudson Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service: 10:30 am Friday, 1/22/21 at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive. Following the CDC COVID-19 guidelines, masks are required for all in attendance. A livestream link of the service will be provided 10 minutes prior to the service at roperandsons.com.
