Joanne was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Phi Mu sorority where she served as social director on the council for 2 years, started the Madonna Stroke Club where she served as president and secretary, and appointed by Gov. Kerry to the advisory council for talking books for 8 years.
The strongest woman we knew. The matriarch of our family. Joanne went through many health crises in her life. At age 39 she was left disabled and with speech aphasia and paralyzed on her left side. Even going through all that, she managed to raise her 3 kids and babysat all her grandkids while the parents worked. Even with all her health issues she was always upbeat and happy, she was a fighter, she lived beyond all expectations.
Family members include her son Steve Weston, Lincoln; daughters Michelle (Pat) McFall, Lake Havasu, AZ and Sandra Stewart, Lincoln, NE; 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Ronnie, sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Alex Allison.
No services are planned.
