Jerrie and John “Dan” Michaelson knew each other in high school, and both graduated from Lincoln Northeast in 1959, but a reintroduction though their brothers several years later is what led to their 1968 wedding. Dan was a 20-year Navy band master, and his career took them all over the country, but Jerrie always considered Lincoln her home.
Jerrie had many jobs during her lifetime, but the one most dear to her heart was at the V.A. Hospital working as an administrative assistant. While there, she made friendships that would follow her for the rest of her life. Many of those friendships were revived while attending Christ United Methodist Church in Lincoln.
Jerrie’s favorite hobby in retirement quickly became her grandchildren. She loved chauffeuring her grandchildren, traveling with her grandchildren, going to musicals with Kaitlyn, and eating ice cream with Isaac. Whenever one of her grandchildren had a school event, Jerrie was there.
Jerrie enjoyed traveling and went on many adventures with Dan and their son Geoff which usually resulted in some crazy stories, inciting lots of giggles. She also loved gardening and cooking. Jerrie never met a stranger – she could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was also a dedicated Cornhusker fan.
Family members include her son Geoff (Angela) Michaelson; grandchildren Kaitlyn and Isaac; brother Bob (Barbara) Bell; nieces and nephews Rae Jean (Scott) Proescholdbell, Scott (Karen) Bell, Dani (Sid) Staats, Mitch Michaelson, and Elaine (Dave) Drummer; great nieces and nephews Anderson, Zamaria, Vivienne, Josh, Rachel, Cassia, Kenna, J.J., Tommy, and Grant; numerous extended family members and friends.
