Jeffrey A. Carlson, 63, of Roscoe, Ill., U.S. Army, retired. Died, September 29, 2010, at his home of a sudden, massive heart attack. He was a 1965 graduate of Waverly High School, Waverly, Nebraska, attended the University of Nebraska, and served in the United States Army, 101st Airborne Division, as a paratrooper, Spec. 5, receiving a Purple Heart for wounds suffered while serving in Vietnam in 1967. He worked for the United States Postal Service in Golden, Colorado and for the past 25 years had lived and worked in Roscoe, Illinois, recently retiring from Electro-Cam Corporation. He was an avid snow skier in younger years and still a Denver Broncos fan.
He is survived by: mother, Mary Carlson of Waverly, NE; brothers, Steve (Tina) Carlson of Parrish, FL, Greg (Diane) of Waverly, NE; Sister: Susan (Gerald) Greiman of St. Louis, MO. Many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday (10-9-10) at Roper and Sons Chapel in Waverly and burial will be at Elim Cemetery in Cleveland, Minnesota near Lake Jefferson where Jeff had a vacation home and loved to sail his catamaran. Cremation, no visitation.
Memorials are suggested to the Smile Train or the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Foundation.
