Jean York Wiedman, 90, of Lincoln, passed away January 4, 2015. Born February 21, 1924 in Omaha, NE to Robert W. and Erma (Jones) York. Jean grew up in Omaha where she attended Omaha Central High School and graduated from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority.
She married Dr. Wilbur Wiedman on September 6, 1947. They lived in Lincoln most of their married life. Upon Dr. Wiedman’s retirement they moved to Amelia Island in Florida for thirteen years. Both were involved in many of the activities of the First Presbyterian Church in Fernandina, and enjoyed their involvement in the congregation there and in the whole community. It is an Island “Paradise”! Jean was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, P.E.O., Colonial Dames, Mayflower, DAR, Junior League of Lincoln and a volunteer for the American Red Cross. A former member of First Presbyterian Church on Amelia Island, FL.
She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Lawrence York Wiedman (Mary Witson) of Omaha, David Thayer Wiedman, (Gayle Baughan) of Lincoln, and daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Lee Wiedman McMartin (Jay Burton McMartin) of Omaha. Grandchildren include Sarah York Wiedman, Seattle Washington, and Kathryn Corinne Wiedman, Mark Kerns (Jennifer) and Daniel Kerns (Tiffany) of Omaha, Derek Robert Wiedman, and Andrew Dixon Wiedman of Lincoln, and DruAnne Hotchkiss McMartin and Christopher York McMartin of Omaha; Great-Grandchildren are Megan and Emma Kerns, children of Mark and Jennifer, and Paxton, Violet, and Isabelle Kerns, children of Daniel and Tiffany. Jean was predeceased by her parents, husband, Dr. Wilbur Wiedman, one sister, Barbara York Cockle and brother-in-law John R. Cockle, of Portland, OR, Aunts and Uncles MR. And Mrs. Asael E. Adams, Jr. (Corinne Jones) of Youngstown, OH and Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence T. York (Hazel Mook) of Peoria, IL. Jean was also predeceased by brother-in-law, Dr. John G. Wiedman, and Sister-in-law Mary Louise Wiedman Nelson. She is survived by brother-in-law, Douglas D. Nelson of Amelia Island, FL. Jean is survived by nieces and nephews Sally York Cockle Wolcott (Don) and children Karley, Megan and Lindsey of Portland, OR, John Robert Cockle, (Lynn) and children Matt and Beth, Laura Cockle Marino (tony) and children Julia, Timothy, Luke of Calgary Alberta Canada. Mary Cockle Liggett (Jim) and children Anne, Barbara, Kathy, and Jane of Portland, OR; Nieces and nephews Kristi Nelson and Stewart Goldman and daughter Annika of Cincinnati, OH, Mary Nelson Morgan (Jim) and sons J.D. and Tommy of Jacksonville, FL, Dr. Douglas Dirk Nelson (Kathy) and children Laura, Kirsten and Alex of Chicago, IL, Laura Wiedman Tidball (Tim) and daughter Jessie of Lincoln and Susan Wiedman of South Carolina.
Funeral Service: 1:00 p.m. Friday (1-9-15) Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd. with Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald officiating. Burial in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Omaha, NE.

Visitation: 2-8 p.m. Thursday with family greeting friend from 6-8 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street and one hour prior to service time at the church.
