Janice Ruth Higgins, 80, Lincoln, died Tuesday (5-4-10). Born (3-15-30) in Concord, North Carolina to Rev. Hugo Carl and Josephine M. (Mathias) Kellermeyer. Ret. School Teacher in Nebraska, Missouri and Ohio. Graduate of Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio. Took many classes at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Nebraska (OLLI). Very active and proud member of Vine Congregational United Church of Christ, PEO Chapter GQ, Past member of the Board of Directors of Lincoln Literacy Council and a tutor, community volunteer. Janice was a lifelong learner who loved to read, travel and do china painting.
Family members include: husband Rev. Clarence M. “Clip” Higgins, Jr., Lincoln; sons, daughters-in-law: Timothy and Marie Higgins, Naperville, IL, Dr. Jonathan and Toni Farrell-Higgins, Topeka, KS, Rev. David and Rev. Beth Long-Higgins, Canal Winchester, OH, Daniel and Liesl Higgins, Bellevue, OH; daughters, sons-in-law: Ruth and John Schleyer, Portland, OR, Mary and Bradley Niimi, Lincoln; 13 grandchildren; sister, brother-in-law: Lorene and Herman Ahrens, Lansdale, PA; brother, sister-in-law: David and Marian Kellermeyer, Sahuarita, AZ. Preceded in death by parents, brother Edward Kellermeyer.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday (5-8-10) Vine Congregational United Church of Christ, 1800 Twin Ridge Road. Rev. Renae Koehler and Rev. David Long-Higgins officiating.
