Janice Cochran Eicher, 82, Lincoln, died Tuesday (5-10-11). Born (11-19-28) in Lincoln, Nebraska to Roy E. and Winifred E. (Gould) Cochran. She graduated from Lincoln High, and from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1950. On June 28, 1952 she married Robert Eicher, and lived in Milford, NE. Jan and Bob moved with their three daughters to Ankeny, IA for four years before returning to Nebraska in 1974 when Bob was named President of the newly-formed Southeast Community College.
After returning to Lincoln, Jan worked at Union Bank and Trust Company. She retired after 20 years as Vice President and Human Resource Director. Jan was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, and a former member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir for 35 years. Jan had a love of nature and music, was an avid Husker fan, and enjoyed many long and deep friendships.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert S. Eicher; daughters, sons-in-law, Cathy and Rick MacInnes, Omaha, Nancy J. Eicher, Minneapolis, MN, Diane K. and Doug Caulkins, Denver, CO; grandchildren, Alissa Alden MacInnes Johnson (Beau), Amy Kaye MacInnes, Kyle Lynn Caulkins, Corey Robert Caulkins; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, brother Dr. Robert M. Cochran, sister Doris Lovell and brother Dr. Roy E. Cochran.
Jan’s positive outlook on life, her love of family and friends, and her constant and enduring faith in Christ will be remembered by all who knew and loved her. She touched many lives, and leaves a legacy of grace and kindness.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday (5-14-11) St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 8550 Pioneer’s Blvd. Pastor Wayne Alloway, officiating. 9:00 a.m. burial in Pleasant View Cemetery, Milford, NE.
