Obituary

Jacqueline Rose Podraza

October 18, 1953 - September 4, 2025

Jacqueline Rose Podraza, 71, passed away on September 4, 2025, in Lincoln, NE. Born on October 18, 1953, in Charleston, SC, to Lucian and Arlene (Ramaekers) Podraza.

Jackie, a kind and generous soul whose love touched everyone she met, passed away surrounded by family. She will be remembered for her open heart, her gentle spirit, and her ability to make everyone feel welcome and loved just as they were.

She had a deep love for flowers and gardening, finding joy in the simple beauty of nature. She was also an avid reader and movie lover, but more than anything, she cherished her family. A favorite tradition of hers was going out for breakfast—often closer to lunchtime—where she delighted in good food and even better company.

Over the years, she dedicated herself to serving others. She spent much of her life in the service industry, where she brightened the days of countless people with her warmth and care. Later, she pursued nursing, continuing her lifelong devotion to helping others in a new and meaningful way.

She is survived by her daughter, Daneyelle (Richard); her grandchildren, Madi, Kyle (Ashlie), Nathan (Kelly), and Taylor; her beloved siblings, Jody (Matt), Teri (Joe), Bret (Heatherbelle), and Michelle (Michael); her great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Proceeded in death by her husband Larry, parents Arlene and Lou and brother Roch. She loved each of them dearly and never failed to make every birthday special with a card and thoughtful words.

Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will live on in all those whose lives she touched. She will be deeply missed, but forever remembered.

A celebration of life gathering will be held from 2 p.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Chapel (3950 Hohensee Dr. Lincoln, NE 68516).

Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.

Jackie was a true champion of the underdog, I guess that’s why she was so loyal to me. Her love was most apparent in putting the needs of others before herself and making it seem like it was never an imposition. She loved life and was always up for an adventure, we walked the redwoods, streets of Seattle and many many road trips. She was always there with a supportive word of encouragement or dose of tough love. Her honor, loyalty and love will be greatly missed. The world is a little less bright with her passing.

Jackie always thought of others before herself. Mom so looked forward to her phone calls when both of them were nearing the end of life. She will always be remembered, loved and missed!
