Hilda Johanna Martens, 102, went to be with the Lord on Monday (7-28-08) at the Green House at Tabitha. Hilda was born November 4, 1905 in Shickley, Nebraska to Charles and Margaret Gratopp. Graduate of Deshler High School and attended Teachers College at the University of Nebraska. She taught school in Gresham and Beatrice, Nebraska. She married Leon Martens on June 10, 1928. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church where Hilda taught Sunday school and was active in LWML, Ladies Aid and the Hoffmann Society. She was a teacher and employee of Sears and Miller & Paine.
Survivors: Nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceded in death by husband, Leon, son, Winston, parents, 4 sisters, 3 brothers.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday (8-1-08) Trinity Lutheran Church, 724 South 12th Street. Pastor Duane Voorman officiating.
Memorials to Tabitha Green House or Trinity Lutheran Church.
Visitation: Noon – 9:00 p.m.Thursday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street and one hour prior to service time at the Church.
