Obituary

Grahm B. Kenobbie

November 26, 1997 - February 13, 2024

Grahm Bernerd Kenobbie passed away unexpectedly the morning of February 13, 2024 at the age of 26. Grahm was born on November 26, 1997 in Glendale, Arizona to Kurtis and Mary (Vander Aarde) Kenobbie.

He was raised in Phoenix, Arizona with his brother, Miles. Grahm graduated from Sandra Day O’Connor High School in 2016 and then attended Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa to pursue a dual major in computer science and philosophy. In both high school and college, Grahm played three years of varsity football. He also graduated in the top 1% of his high school class and Summa Cum Laude in college in 2020. Along with these accomplishments, Grahm was also involved in choir, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, National Honors Society, media productions, track and field, wrestling, coaching, church leadership, and peer tutoring.

Grahm met the love of his life, Jemma, at Northwestern College. In May 2019, Grahm and Jemma traveled to Greece on a school trip. After spending more time together, they fell in love and were married on August 15, 2020. Grahm had accepted a job at Constellation West as a top secret security programmer. After about two years, he accepted a new job at Speedway Motors as a software engineer. On Sundays, Grahm and Jemma attended Firth Bible, where they have been members since 2022. During the week, he worked from home on a farm he and Jemma bought in July of 2023.

There were no strangers in Grahm’s life, only friends he had not met yet. He loved people and loved BIG. His faith in Jesus was evident to every person who knew him. He lived life as loud and unashamed as possible; padawan braid and short shorts included. Every room he entered grew to max capacity with his personality alone. There was simply no avoiding the force that was Grahm Kenobbie, but here’s the secret: no one wanted to avoid him. In fact, Grahm was the kind of person everyone wanted as their friend, brother, son, or son-in-law. He was the very best in each role, but his greatest was that of a husband to Jemma. Grahm loved Jemma completely, whole-heartedly, and enthusiastically every moment they were together.

Grahm is survived by his wife, Jemma Kenobbie; mother Mary Kenobbie; brother Miles (Megan) Kenobbie; grandmother Darlene Vander Aarde; parents-in-law Christopher and Jo Farabee; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Thoren Farabee, Dannen (August) Boden, Aksel Farabee, and Haaken Farabee; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Grahm was preceded in death by his father Kurtis Kenobbie; grandparents Dan and Karen Kenobbie, Judy Kenobbie; and Stanley Vander Aarde.

I have known the Kenobbie family for decades. I had the joy of working with Mary at Cartwright Elementary School. It was a pleasure watching Grahm and Miles grow up. Miles was my student. He was always lovely. Grahm also attended Cartwright and he was always an intelligent and fun loving boy. As they grew older I had the joy of spending time with the entire family. We especially enjoyed going out for Indian buffets. This picture shows the last time I saw them all when I was visiting Phoenix after I’d moved to London. It was such a pleasure seeing the boys grown up. Please accept my sincere condolences. I know Grahm will be missed by everyone. My heart goes out to Mary and Miles and the rest of the family.

So many memories to reflect on of our children’s younger years, but I was always grateful for the friendship our children shared! We were so blessed to have shared even a small piece of Graham’s big life. From building legos to riding bikes the boys of the block were the definition of childhood friendship! We are so saddened by this great loss and send our love and prayers to all the family. ~ The Grajeda Family

He was a such a light to those around him and definitely a one of a kind person. I feel honored to have gotten to know him in Greece and to have seen the beginning of his love story with Jemma. My heart goes out of all of his loved ones.

I have lots of memories of Grahm, but I loved his dancing! From hip hop to dancing at Nathan and Erin’s B’Nai Mitzvahs to country dancing with Jemma at Miles and Megan’s wedding! I loved to watch him move! He really embraced life and made you embrace it too. I also loved his smile and the hugs that would almost crush your bones. May everyone who loved him find peace that only God can grant.
