Gordon G. Pejsar

January 31, 1928 - July 8, 2013

Gordon G. Pejsar, 85, of Lincoln, passed on to eternal life on July 8, 2013 in the comfort of his family. Born January 31, 1928 in Western, Nebraska to John G. Pejsar and Dora Myrtle Pejsar, he attended school in Western and Dewitt, Nebraska. Upon graduation in 1945 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Great Lakes and Farragut, Idaho as a hospital corpsman. After discharge from the Navy, Gordon entered the University of Nebraska in 1947.

In 1948 he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Helen. Their marriage produced three sons who were the pride of his life. He earned B.S. and D.D.S. degrees from the University of Nebraska, graduating in 1955. He practiced dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska for 50 years the last 20 years with his son, Steven, and retired in 2005. He was a member of Delta Sigma Delta, the International College of Dentists, the American College of Dentists, OKU Dental Honorary, American Academy of Dental Practice Administration and the Academy of Dental Consultants.

He served as President of the Lincoln District Dental Association, President of the Nebraska Dental Association and the 1st Vice President of the American Dental Association. Gordon was elected to the Nebraska Dental Association Hall of Fame, was a founding member of Capital Study Club and was an Admiral in the Nebraska Navy. He was a Dental Consultant and Vice President of Ameritas and served eight years as a member of CRDTS, a testing service for graduating dental students. Gordon served as President of the Country Club of Lincoln. He was a member of the Nebraska Czechs of Lincoln, CGSI, and SVU, and served on the board of the Czech Language Foundation. As an active member of Christ United Methodist Church for over 50 years he taught many various Sunday School classes. Preceded in death by parents and sister Barbara Linder.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen (Chinnock) Pejsar, sons: Dr. Steven and wife Connie of Lincoln NE, Gregg of Council Bluffs Iowa, and Douglas and wife Dawn of Glendale, CA., grandchildren: Benjamin Pejsar, Rachel Pejsar Snelling and husband John Snelling, Lincoln NE, Jessica Pejsar of Santa Barbara CA, Hannah Pejsar of Glendale CA., and great-grand children Grant and Hanley Snelling of Lincoln NE., brother Roderick Pejsar of Satellite Beach, FL. And brother-in-law Robert Chinnock and wife Marlene of Alliance NE, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was dedicated to the profession of Dentistry and his patients were his dear friends who he thoroughly enjoyed. He was very passionate about life and especially his family, his profession, church, golf, travel and the Huskers. His true joy was telling “stories” and making people laugh with him and his infectious laugh. He brought much love, joy and inspiration to everyone he touched. He will be deeply missed.

A Celebration of his Life will take place at Christ United Methodist Church, 4700 A Street Lincoln, NE at 10:00 A.M. Saturday July 20, 2013.
