Glenn Dean Hubbartt, 78, Lincoln, died Monday (4-28-08) at his home. Born in Bloomfield, IA (3-31-1930) the eldest son of Floyd O. and Leola A. (Rayburn) Hubbartt. Married to Nancy A. Backus on June 20, 1953 in Cranston, RI.
He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1948 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy that same year. He worked as an Aircraft Mechanic and Flight Engineer. He served afloat on the USS MIDWAY, and ashore with assignments in Rhode Island, Texas, Hawaii and California as well as numerous overseas deployments to include combat service in Vietnam where he flew 39 combat missions earning him the Air Medal. After 22 years he retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. Following his military career he lived for many years in California and Iowa before becoming a 20 year resident of Lincoln.
Hubbartt is a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. From a young age he was active in Scouting and was awarded the 50-year service pin. He was an honorary Admiral in the Nebraska Navy conferred by Governor Ben Nelson.

(Backus) Hubbartt; daughter: Susan Nelson, Omaha; sons, daughters-in-law: Steve and Julie Hubbartt, Berkshire, England; Scott and Carolina Hubbartt, Schertz, TX; sisters, brothers-in-law: Helen Kay and Elmer Hopkins, Drakesville, IA; Carolyn Sue and Ronnie Comer, Flores, IA; brother, sisters-in-law: Robert and Pat Hubbartt, Arroyo Grande, CA; Gerri Hubbartt, Ottumwa, IA; 6 grandchildren: Christina Hubbartt, San Antonio, TX; Nancy Hubbartt-Cerna, San Marcos, TX; Kathryn Hubbartt-Cerna, Brisbane, Australia; Rachel Nelson, Lincoln; Michelle Nelson, Omaha; Matthew Hubbartt, Berkshire, England. Preceded in death by brother Bill Hubbartt, formerly of Ottomwa, IA; son Glenn Hubbartt Jr.. formerly of White City, OR.
Memorial Service: 3:00 p.m. Friday (5-2-08) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Chaplain Dennis Rock officiating.
Interment will be in Watertown, NY at a later date.
No visitation/cremation.
