Gladys Lucille Lundy, of Lincoln, began her journey on Tuesday, December 31, 2013, at the Legacy Terrace, her home for the past 7 years. She celebrated 101 years and 11 months on this plane. Lucille was the oldest of seven children born to Nile and Bessie Campbell.
She was born in Burwell, NE on January 29, 1912. She was married to the late Mansel Lundy. Lucille was a “Classy Lady” her greatest love was her family and family gatherings. Then came her love for singing. On her 97th birthday a DVD was made of her singing her favorite songs. Many family and friends homes are graced with her art work. When her children were growing up she was a member of the Bethany School PTA and was awarded a life time membership. She was very involved in the Bethany Church where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and belonged to many church groups. She was a life time member of the Bethany Women’s Club. In 1974, she retired from Dorsey Laboratories (Novartis).
She is survived by her son, Bill (Nancy) Lundy of Sedona, AZ, their children, Bill Jr. and Lori (Tom) Ginn; daughter, Betty Ward, of Lincoln and her children, Linda (Jim) Wetzler, Lesa (Gary) Johnson, Robin (Rob) Schwab and Jeff Ward-Christie Haynes; brothers, Dr. Al (Gerry)Campbell, Nile (Gerry) Campbell. She was blessed with 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents, husband Mansel Lundy, daughter Carol Hawke (her son Doug (Diane) Hawke survive her; son-in-law, Dale Ward; sisters, Coral Wright, Ruby Hixon; brothers, “Chick” Campbell, and Dr. Maynard Campbell.
A Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am Friday, January 3, 2014 at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
Memorials to Peoples City Mission or Matt Talbot Kitchen.
Visitation with family will be from 6-7:30 pm Thursday at Roper and Sons.
