Obituary

Gesse Swain

June 11, 1983 - August 5, 2025

Gesse Lee Swain, 42, of Lincoln, Nebraska, passed away of natural causes on Monday, August 5, 2025. He is survived by his brother, William; his sister-in-law, Hillary; his sisters, Cassy, Chelsea, and Chloe; his brothers-in-law, Jose, Rick, and Dillion; his nephews, Spencer and Zephram; and his nieces, Ysabella, Reese, Remi, and Saoirse.

Gesse was a beloved uncle who cherished every moment spent with his nephews and niece. He had a young spirit and a light heart, often sharing silly stories or jokes, or things that just “gave him a chuckle” with friends and family just to make them smile, too. He enjoyed video games, board games, and movies, but what stood out most was his quiet thoughtfulness and generous heart.

Gesse will be remembered for his kindness and his unwavering support of those around him. More than anything, Gesse just wanted everyone to feel like they had a place to belong. Nowhere was that more evident than in the way he supported his niece, Saoirse, who has Down syndrome. From the very beginning, he was her biggest fan—always the first to join her teams, attend her events, and make sure she knew just how important she was.

In honor of Gesse’s legacy and the love he showed so freely, especially for the Down syndrome community, donations may be made to the Down Syndrome Association for Families. This year will mark the first walk Gesse won’t attend in person, but we know he’ll still be with us every step of the way. Memorial Services will be held for Gesse at a later date in West Fork, Arkansas.
