Gary F. Neal, of San Francisco, CA, died on July 28, 2008 after a long illness. He was born April 1, 1952, in Lincoln, NE, the son of Joseph L. and Kathleen M. Neal. He graduated from Lincoln East High School in 1970 and attended Kearney State College in Kearney, NE for 2 years. Shortly after, he moved to Central City, CO where he was self-employed in the exotic wood import business. In the early 1980s, he moved to San Francisco where he resided until his death. He worked for some time as a “roadie” with the Grateful Dead band and continued with the wood import business. He loved music, was an artist, and an avid reader, collecting hundreds of books over the years.
Gary was preceded in death by his father and is survived by his daughter, Jericho Kayne; mother Kathleen and brother Christopher, both of Lincoln; sister Kimberly Lococo and her husband Robert of Olathe, KS; nephews Aaron and Ryan Lococo of Olathe, KS; nieces Lindsay and Madison Neal of Lincoln, NE; and special friend Danielle Kayne of Florida.
A private memorial will be held in his honor for family and friends in Lincoln at a later date, to be announced.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Jericho Kayne Education Fund c/o Roper and Sons.
