A graduate of Norris High School, Class of 1968, Garret briefly served in the U.S. Army before embarking on a long and successful career in the drywall industry. He eventually retired from his co-owned drywall business, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and craftsmanship.
Garret had a deep passion for cars, especially Fords. He was a devoted racing fan and spent countless hours modifying and fine-tuning his own vehicles. Whether cruising around town in his classic Bronco or behind the wheel of his beloved Ford Raptor, Garret’s love for the road was undeniable. At home, he found joy in maintaining his property, often seen on his riding lawn mower — a pastime he truly cherished.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Wissink, and brother, Paul Wissink.
Garret is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Jessica Wissink; his faithful grand-puppy, Lucy; his mother, Darlene (Buis) Wissink; and his sister, Mary Lou (Wissink) Hasemann.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 11:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at Roper and Sons South Lincoln Chapel, 3950 Hohensee Drive. As a tribute to Garret, guests are encouraged to drive their classic cars and trucks — there will be plenty of parking to showcase them.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the charity of your choice are appreciated.
