Francis Maxwell “Max” Jackson, 102, Lincoln, died Thursday (1-12-12). Born (12-7-1909) on a farm near Glenwood, Iowa the son of Richard Orlando and Effie (Buffington) Jackson. One of eight children, six brothers and two sisters. He attended Glenwood, IA High School and the airplane and auto mechanic school in Lincoln.
He farmed for twelve years in Mills County, Iowa before moving to North Platte where he worked for Firestone. He also owned a grocery store, worked in Sears Farm Store and retired in 1975 from the Nebraska Dept. of Labor as a interviewer and farm representative after working there for twenty years. After living in North Platte for thirty-two years, he and his wife moved to Lincoln in 1975 to be near their daughter and family. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture and making reproductions of antiques.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, DeLoris and James Knisely, granddaughter, Susan Knisely and Will Duly; great grandson, Ian Duly; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by wife Edna Mae DeLashmutt, 5 brothers 2 sisters.
There will be a family graveside service in Glenwood, Iowa at a later date.
