Francis E. ‘Did’ Cripe, 83, Lincoln, died Tuesday (10-5-10). Born (10-22-26) in Blue Springs, Nebraska to William Edward and Mary Belle (Taylor) Cripe. Ret. 1988, Salesman with the R.W. Prewitt Co. wholesale grocery brokerage, Des Moines, IA. Former owner of the Waverly IGA and Did’s Jack & Jill grocery stores.

Member: Saint Paul United Methodist Church, WWII U. S. Navy Veteran. Life member and past Commander of V.F.W. Post 131, past Seam Squirrel of the Military Order of Cooties, Honor Guard of the V.F.W. Posts 131 & 3606, former member of American Legion Post #3, National Plank Owner of the U.S.S. LCI ship, member of Allied Food Club, avid golfer, bowler and duck hunter with his black Lab “Sam”, former baseball player and retired volunteer fireman.

Family members include wife: Billie; daughters, sons-in-law: Susan and Russell Taylor, Lincoln, Debra and Jim Wynn, Melbourne, FL; grandchildren, spouses: Anne-Marie Taylor, Omaha, Cara and Nick Estle, Jamie Ives, all of Lincoln, Michael and Bridget Kirkpatrick, Melbourne, FL; great grandchildren: Sierra-Ann, Trevor and Dylan Ives, Makayla Wainwright, all of Lincoln, Garrett Kirkpatrick, Melbourne, FL, Taylor Estle, Lincoln. Preceded in death by parents, 2 sisters, 2 half-sisters and 3 brothers.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday (10-8-10) Saint Paul United Methodist Church, 1144 ‘M’ Street. Pastor David Lux officiating. Burial in Wyuka Cemetery with full military honors.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ St., Lincoln, and one hour prior to service at the Church on Friday.
