He graduated from Bassett High School, and later served two years in the Army. After returning home, he met Peggy Cross who had just arrived to spend the summer in Bassett. After a whirlwind romance they were married in March of 1957 and together they raised their four children, Michael, Steven, Douglas and Kathryn in Lincoln. Floyd was employed as a construction manager and estimator at the Department of Aeronautics and later the Lincoln Airport Authority. While at the airport he helped coordinate the construction of the new terminal. Later he was involved with highway construction where he loved estimating and overseeing job sites. Floyd never met a stranger and over the years made many friends. He loved to read, do crossword puzzles and being outdoors. He loved doing yard work at their second home in Bassett, which was his happy place. Later when he and Peggy moved to The Legacy, he enjoyed picking up pine cones and blowing leaves off the walkways and walking about two miles a day. Floyd loved his family and especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who seemed to be drawn to him like a magnet.
He is survived by his wife Peggy Wilkinson, sons Mike Wilkinson and wife JoAnn Owens of St. Louis, Steve Wilkinson and wife Sharon of Las Vegas and daughter Kathy Ross of Lincoln. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother LeRoy Wilkinson, sister in law Daisy Wilkinson and his son Doug Wilkinson.
