Fay Eugene Whitla, M.D., 82, Lincoln, went home to the Lord on (4-14-13). Born (10-20-30) in Butte, NE to William and Flora (Fleming) Whitla. Fay received his Pharmacist degree from UNL, and served as a pharmacist in the US Army from March 1952 to March 1954 in Germany during the Korean War. After serving in the Army, he worked as a pharmacist in McCook, NE for a few years then obtained his Medical degree from the UNMC of Omaha, NE.
He practiced General Medicine in Lincoln for several years before specializing in Psychiatry. After working in private practice and part time at the VA hospital in Lincoln; he continued his career as Chief of Psychiatry full time at the VA before retiring in 1996. He then continued to work part-time for the Lincoln Regional Center for another 6 years.
Survived by wife, Lil; son, Randy (Jana) Bartels, Lincoln, NE and their daughters, Jenna, Longmont, CO, Emily, Lincoln; daughter, Beth Hubbard, Lincoln; son, Scott (Sidney) Hubbard, Omaha, NE; daughter, Barb (Dent) Tisdale and children, Chelsea, Drew, Jessica and Ryan, Lincoln, NE; son, Steve Whitla, Adams, NE; daughter-in-law, Kelly (Whitla) Patterson (James) and their sons, Kevin Whitla, Lincoln and Baxter Whitla, Adams, NE; brother, Dean (Janet) Whitla, Cambridge, MA, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, Bob (Marilyn) Jacobsen, Homer, NE, Larry (Judy) Jacobsen, Omaha, NE; niece, Linda (George) Saidler, LaVernia, TX and many other nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service: 1:00 pm Thursday (4-18-13) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ St with Rev. Jerry McInnis officiating.
