Esther R. Durbin (Hites), 86, of Lincoln, passed away on Saturday, October 11, 2014. Born on May 3, 1928 to Ben and Belle Hites. Esther was privileged to have been a very active community member in Lincoln for more than 50 years. She was also a world traveler with her husband George.
Esther is preceded in death by her husband George, son Gary, parents, and four siblings. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Vicki and Jim Bower, grandchildren Steven (Shannon) Bower, Jason (Alison) Bower, Sueanne (Michael) Miller, Janet Marie Durbin, Jean Louise (Travis) Geist, five great grandchildren, brother Robert Hites and sister-in-law Nancy Hites, as well as many nieces and nephews. Equally important are the wonderful circle of her loyal family of friends who have been a tremendous joy and support to her for many years.
Esther may be remembered by gifts to the Nebraska Humane Society or Planned Parenthood.
