Ervin Albert Maahs

Ervin A. Maahs, 82, of rural Lincoln, passed away April 10, 2019, in Lincoln. Born October 18, 1936, to Albert and Luella (Baade) Maahs, youngest of four children, Maxine, Arlene, Virginia and Ervin.

Ervin graduated from Eagle High School and attended UNL for one year. He returned to farm with his father and began his herd of registered Hereford cattle. He was active in the community, church, and held offices on several boards: past president of District 145 school board, past president of Nebraska Hereford Association and member of local cattle organizations. Ervin was respected and given honors by fellow cattlemen and with his children showed cattle at county and state fairs, AKSARBEN and Denver Stock Show. He also served in the Army National Guard.

Ervin enjoyed family fishing trips to Minnesota. A loving husband and father, living his entire life on the family farm east of Lincoln.

Survived by wife of 43 years Sandra; son Mike (Kelli) Maahs, their children Reece and Trini; daughter, Abby (Marty) Bunde, their children Bill, Garrett (Paxton) and Dr. Katy Bunde; daughter, Julie (Dave) Rau, their children Aaryn and Jamie Rau; daughter Carolyn Maahs; stepson Mitchell (Pam) Mullins, their children Mikhaela and Spencer Mullins; stepdaughter Mary Logan, her children Amber Mathes and Ginger Cowles; stepson, John D. Mullins and his son Matt Mullins; 4 great grandchildren; nieces, nephew and extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and brothers-in-law.

Celebration of Life: 11:30 a.m. Friday (4-26-19) at Roper and Sons Funeral Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street, Lincoln. Pastor Lori E.L. Kitzing officiating.

Memorials may be given, in lieu of flowers, to Grace Lutheran Church or The Gathering Place.
