Emily M. Schuman

June 13, 1931 - January 23, 2022

Emily M. Schuman, 90, Lincoln, passed away on January 23, 2022. She was born in Deweese, NE, to Rudolph and Mary (Bednar) Sebek.

Emily was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church where she served in a variety of roles. In her younger years she worked as a Nurse’s Aide at St. Elizabeth, at Kansas-Nebraska Energy in Hastings. Following retirement she worked at Walgreens. Growing up, her children had the pleasure of her being a stay-at-home mom. While growing her family she helped with 4-H Clubs and enjoyed sewing, baking, being in nature and gardening, and traveling with her husband, Leonard.

Family members include her children: Debra Schuman of Lincoln, Janet (Jim) Holthaus of Omaha, and Leonard James “Jim” Schuman of Lincoln; grandsons Eric (Emily) Holthaus of Minneapolis, MN, Andrew Holthaus of Omaha, Brandon and Zachary Schuman of Lincoln; brother David Sebek of Lincoln; numerous extended family members and friends. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, sisters-in-law Maxine (Gil) Culter and Doris (Eldon) Watson; daughter in law Janelle.

Mass of Christian Burial to be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 7601 Vine Street, Lincoln (05). Rosary will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to Mass. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 7:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2022, at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street, Lincoln (10). Family will be present from 6:00 -7:00 p.m. Masks are required.

Memorials may be given to St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Capital Humane Society, or to the Tabitha Foundation.
