Elizabeth Ann daSilva was born May 15, 1933, to William H. and Bertha (Moser) Luginbill of Humboldt, NE. She passed away on August 5, 2016, at Eastmont Towers Retirement Community.
She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1950 and Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1954 where she belonged to the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority. She taught for 3 years in Portland, OR. On a church-work trip to Equador, she met Erasmo daSilva whom she married in 1957. They lived in Brazil for 8 years where she also taught English and American History; after the family returned to Nebraska, she taught in the Lincoln Public Schools for 25 years and earned an MA from the University of Nebraska. She volunteered for Nebraska Partners of the Americas, International Partners of the Americas Board of Directors, and the Lincoln Public Libraries. She was a member of Eastridge Presbyterian Church, the Lincoln Education Association, and Lincoln Area Retired School Personnel.
She was preceded in death by her husband Erasmo Alves daSilva and her daughter Marcia. She is survived by her daughter Sonia da Silva of Chicago, IL; her sisters and brothers-in-law Hazel and Larry Cummins of Humboldt, NE, and Frances and Gordon Warner of Eden Prairie, MN; her nieces and nephews, their spouses and children.
A Memorial service will be held at Eastridge Presbyterian Church on Friday, August 12, 2016, at 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the UNL Foundation (Erasmo & Elizabeth daSilva Fund for Nebraska-Brazil Relations), Eastridge Presbyterian Church, Eastmont Towers Foundation, or Lincoln Public Schools Foundation.
