Elbert H. “Elb” Schmidt, 95, Lincoln, died Tuesday (1-18-11). Born (6-21-15) in Keystone, South Dakota to Harry A. and Mary Margaret (Wasson) Schmidt. Ret. 1979, Sales Representative, Lakeland Manufacturing Company, 33 years. Member: Westminster Presbyterian Church, served as Deacon, Usher and Elder of the church, UNL Alumni Association, Acacia Fraternity, founding member of the Lincoln Barbershop organization, golfer, cookie baker extraordinaire and a tall tale story telling fisherman.
Family members include wife: Gen; sons, daughters-in-law: Dr. Richard and Judy Schmidt, Edina, MN, David and Trixie Schmidt, Lincoln; daughters-sons-in-law: Dr. Deanna and Dr. Mark Hutchins, Lincoln, Debbie and Lamar Johnson, Austin, TX; 11 grandchildren, 11 ½ great grandchildren. Preceded in death by son Doug Schmidt, parents, two brothers, one sister.
Memorial Service: 3:30 p.m. Saturday (1-22-11) Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd. Rev. Dr. Andrew McDonald officiating. Prior private family graveside service.
