Elaine Delores (Carroll) Taylor was born to Ernest and Grace Carroll on April 28, 1928 in Lincoln, Nebraska, and went to be with the Lord on December 16, 2013. Elaine married Everet Taylor on June 7, 1953 in Lincoln, NE. They made their home on a farm north of Lincoln and then on an acreage north of Waverly. Elaine graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in education and French and taught school for many years before raising their children.
She went on to be a 5th grade teacher at Hamlow Elementary School in Waverly Nebraska for 25 years. Elaine’s passion besides teaching was her music, reading and singing in the Waverly Methodist Church Choir for many years. Everet and Elaine attended Berean church regularly in the later years. She performed professionally throughout her life, gave piano lessons and was an avid pet lover of her cats and dogs.
Elaine also loved their acreage north of Waverly, which involved bird watching and gardening. Elaine also loved history and reading to her children and grandchildren. She also loved fishing, traveling, music and always attended her children and grandchildren’s many school events. Elaine is survived by her husband, Everet, a son, Dale Taylor and his wife, Kristin Taylor. Two daughters, Sharon Taylor Rowan and Joyce Nelson and her husband Woodrow Nelson. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday (12-19-13) at Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street with Pastor Bob Rice officiating. Burial will be at Wyuka Cemetery.
Memorials to the family. Visitation: 4-8 pm Wednesday with family greeting friends from 6-8.
