Edith Inez Jaques Blake Labenz, 89, of Lincoln, passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011. She was born on April 20, 1922 in Weeping Water, Nebraska to Earl and Charlotte (Cheek) Jaques. She attended Weeping Water grade school, then she quit school to marry her first husband Charles S. Blake, who passed away in 1992. They were married 54 years. Edith worked most of her life at The Hill Hatchery, Patio Drive Inn, and Pamida Store, plus she and Charles also had five children. Then in 2002 Edith married Mike Labenz. She was a great wife, mom and grandmother, great grandmother to her family.
Edith is survived by her husband Mike; sons, daughters-in-law: Charles and Donna Blake, Homestead, FL, Steve and Linda Blake, Waverly, NE, Jim Blake and friend Betty Olsen, Lincoln; daughters, sons-in-law: Kay and Walt Mellen, Waverly, NE, Susie and Al Lyman, Lincoln; brother, sister-in-law: Ivan and Theresa Robyler, sister, brother-in-law, Ramona and Jerry Fair; 13 grandchildren and their spouses; 5 step-grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and spouses; 13 step great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; sister-in-law, spouse: Eva and Leonard Harig; plus lots of nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, and first husband Charles Blake, grandson Jamie Blake, brothers Steve Jaques and Leo Robyler, sister Mabel Pingetzer
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday (6-30-11) Roper and Sons Chapel, 4300 ‘O’ Street. Burial in Fairview Cemetery.
