Dwight L. Wilson, 73, of Lincoln passed away on May 20, 2017. Born on November 8, 1943 to Lloyd C. and A.Orvene (Janssen) Wilson in Sterling, NE. Dwight graduated from Sterling High School in 1962 and went to Southeast Community College at Milford, obtaining a Diesel Technology degree.
Dwight married Margaret Little on September 3, 1966 at the United Methodist Church in Tecumseh, NE where they resided until eventually moving to Lincoln where they both worked. Dwight was drafted into the Army in February 1967 and deployed to Vietnam on July 10, 1967. After 4 ½ months of being deployed, Dwight was severely injured on 11/11/1967. After returning to the states, he was stationed at Fort Riley Hospital in Fort Riley, KS for his injuries and malaria. After his discharge Dwight and Margaret resided in Tecumseh where 2 children were born, Kelly and Douglas. After retirement in 2009, he continued his hobby of woodworking, making many things for their home and especially the grandchildren. His greatest joy was being with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Margaret; daughter, Kelly (Rob) Goodwin; son, Douglas (Jennifer) Wilson; grandchildren, Sammi, Bethany, Claire, Dain, and Deacan; brother, Bill (Shirley) Wilson; sister, Faye Brinkman; many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 10:30 a.m., Thursday (5-25-17) at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 1621 Superior St.
Memorial gathering with family greeting friends 5-7 p.m., Wednesday (5-24-17) at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ St.
Inurnment at Fairview Cemetery.
