Duane H. “Hammy” Hamm, 83, Lincoln, NE, died Saturday, (2-28-09). Born (12-2-25) in Lincoln, NE in the family home to John and Iva (Plank) Hamm. He was a lifelong resident of Lincoln and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1943, He joined the Air Force in 1943 and was discharged after WWII in 1945. Duane married Betty Rankin, May 5, 1945. He spent 35 years in the Air National Guard. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Senior Men’s Golf League, Touchdown Club, Izaak Walton League and a former member of the American Legion, Post #3.
Survivors include: wife, Betty; daughter, Cindy Hamm, Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Doris Hess, Redmond, OR, Wanda Rankin, Sacramento, CA; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by parents and sister Elaine Papenfuss.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday (3-5-09), Roper & Sons Chapel, 4300 “O” St., Lincoln, NE.
Visitation will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, (3-4-09) until service time at the funeral home, with family greeting friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home.
