Dorothy N. Jones, 89, formerly of Lincoln, died Saturday (8-22-09), at the Litzenberg Long Term Care Center in Central City, Nebraska. Born (11-4-19) in Wymore, Nebraska, and was one of two daughters born to Frederick K. and Marguerite (Deeter) Neumann. She graduated from Wymore High School in 1938, married the same year, and had one son, Tom in 1939. She became secretary to the Nebraska Attorney General and held the position for thirty-eight years which included the terms of Clarence Beck, Clarence Meyer, Paul L. Douglas and Robert M. Spire. Dorothy enjoyed dancing and particularly to the bands of the Big Band Era during the 1930’s and 1940’s. She liked to read and sports greatly interested her. She attended Husker football games for many years with season tickets. She followed cubs, and Royals baseball and liked root beer floats and cashews. She also liked to do handwork.
Preceded in death by parents, sister Mary Jane (Neumann) Burbank and infant brother Max. She is survived by son, Tom and wifeBetty, of Central City; granddaughter: Heather Elaine (Jones) Christopher and husband Scott plus their six sons of Minnespolis, MN; grandson: Derek Thomas Jones of the United States Army, his wife Alison and their son and two daughters, grandson Joe Tyler Jones, and his wife Jacki who reside in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Graveside Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday (9-5-09) Lincoln Memorial Park, 6800 S. 14th Street. Meet at Gate #2. No visitation/cremation.
