Dorothy L. Young, 84, Lincoln, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Born August 28, 1927 in Hettinger, North Dakota to Ivan Ivory and Lora (Dutton) Seymour. Ret. 1986, Registered Nurse, Internal Medicine Group in Rapid City, South Dakota. Served during WWII in the U.S. Cadet Nurse Corps. Lived in Rapid City , South Dakota from 1943 – 1995 prior to moving to Lincoln. Attended the Northeast United Church of Christ. A member of the South Dakota Nursing Association, American Red Cross, VFW Women’s Auxiliary (South Dakota), Woman’s Club and Ladies Auxiliary of the church.

Family members include her husband William; daughter: Jo Ann (Jared) Jackson, Plano, TX; sons: James (Victoria) Young, San Diego, CA, John (Patricia) Young, Lincoln; grandchildren: Brandon Young, Omaha, Megan(Trenton) Stump, Nebraska City, NE and Kathryn (Keeley) Young-Puhr, Merriam, KS, Erin Young Lincoln; great grandchildren: Bowen and Eleanor Stump, Nebraska City, NE; step-grandchildren: Steven (Karen) Jackson, Fairfax, VA, Matthew Jackson, Dallas, TX, Mary Lynn (Bryan) Hinkle, West Columbia, TX; step-great grandchildren: Ben and Emma Jackson, Fairfax, VA. Preceded in death by parents, grandparents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters.

Memorial Service: 11:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012 at Northeast United Church of Christ, 6200 Adams Street. Rev. Melissa Finlaw Draper, officiating. Prior private family interment.

Memorials to the family for future designation.

Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ Street.
