Doris M. (Brandon) Maupin, 78, Lincoln, crossed over on the morning of March 2, 2008, at home with her family after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.
Mom was all about heart and never really gave up. Mary Doris Carter was born on January 17, 1930 in Newcastle, NE. Doris graduated from Willamina High School in 1947. She married Anthony G. Brandon in 1948 and put together her family of six children. Doris worked at the Legionnaire Club in Lincoln for 35 years where she met her second husband Dan W. Maupin. Mom and Dan started one of Mom’s favorite things to do, the road trip! She loved to travel.
After Dan passed away Mom spent her summers traveling with her sisters and brother’s RV’ing all over America. Road trips with her daughter Mary Ann were especially fun and family reunions were an adventure with all of us along. Mom’s hands were never idol. Always busy with sewing or crocheting. Doris was and still is the heart of our family. Throughout her life she always sought out and extended that family. The Legion Club family was very special to Doris, you know who you are. Doris could never say no to anyone that needed her.
