Obituary

Donald Waugh

February 10, 1953 - April 27, 2026

Donald Clark Waugh, 73, of Lincoln passed away April 27, 2026. Born February 10, 1953, in Atlantic, IA to Robert and Effie (Akin) Waugh.

Donald studied classics at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, law at Drake University, and history at New Hampshire University.

Donald most enjoyed golf and pitch with his good friends at Firethorn, music at the Zoo bar, and trivia at Barrymore’s. His humor was very much a part of his character.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.

I got my first taste of, and learned how to gamble in, the basement of the Waugh home around the age of 14. I would come home and display my (rarely) earrned wealth from those afternoons to my mom who, as a first rate Christian, literally shrieked in horror, and wanted of course to know where. Donnie was imbued with not only nonstop humor of the professional kind but with the toys that only the people with money could enjoy. Those afternoons were always more fun than anywhere else I could possibly go on any given day in Atlantic, Iowa. Donnie was talented with great humor, golf, and all kinds of friends. I consider myself just one of them. I hadn’t seen him in some years, as he’d moved to Lincoln, but now in remembrance, I think of nothing but fun and good times. Rest well buddy.
