Born on October 13th, one year apart, Don Higgins, 81 and Joyce Higgins, 80 departed this world on the same day, April 8, 2016. They resided in Lincoln, NE.
Don Higgins was born in Sidney, Nebraska, the only child of Harold and Arvilla Higgins. Joyce Higgins was born in Bridgeport, Nebraska, the youngest daughter of Robert and Laura May McCracken. They married in Scottsbluff, Nebraska in May of 1955.
Don served his country as an aircraft mechanic in the USAF, and later graduated from SCC-Milford with an associates’ degree in HVAC and refrigeration technology. After working on the UNL maintenance staff for several years, he returned to SCC as an instructor, where he taught HVAC technology for 29 years.
Joyce attended Chadron State University for two years studying elementary education, then married Don and joined him during his assignment at Ellsworth AFB near Rapid City, South Dakota. She was a homemaker, devoted wife and loving mother.
They are survived by their son Steve Higgins and daughter-in-law Karen Higgins, of Kenmore, WA.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. April 16, 2016 at Roper & Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ Street in Lincoln.
