Obituary

Delmer Dueck

June 4, 1942 - June 7, 2024

Delmer Dueck, 82, of Lincoln, went to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on June 7, 2024. Del was born on June 4, 1942, in Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada to Peter and Justina (Unger) Dueck.

Delmer grew up on a farm, the youngest of 15 children. As a youth, he was a dedicated student who loved reading, playing sports, and going to Sunday school. At the age of 12, he heard and believed the truth of the gospel and placed his faith in Christ.

Del attended the University of Manitoba for architectural drafting and later graduated with Bachelor of Arts and Sacred Music degrees from Grace College of the Bible in Omaha, where he met his wife Eileen (Loewen), and they married on August 13, 1966. They moved to Nebraska in 1968, where Del enjoyed working in various departments at Back to the Bible for 15 years and was involved in many music-related ministries including the choir and quartet. He also was a co-owner of an assisted living facility here in Lincoln for over 30 years.

Del was a member of First Street Bible Church and was so blessed by the close-knit friendships developed there in addition to the many other dear brothers and sisters in Christ that God brought into his life over the years.

Anyone who knew Del will remember his quick wit and dry sense of humor, his fun-loving yet hardworking nature, and his love for music and singing. Above all else, his life was centered around his faith in Christ and devotion to his family. We know without a doubt that he is now rejoicing with the Lord.

Family members include his wife, Eileen; daughters Jodi Dueck, Santa Monica, CA, Jenni Dougherty and Carissa (Kent) Andersen, Lincoln; grandchildren Justin Dueck, Jessica Hotchkin, Julie Dougherty, Ainsley, Deacon, Given, and Sullivan Valenta; brothers Frank (Sara) Dueck, Steinbach, Manitoba, Canada, Walter Dueck and Arnold (Vera) Dueck, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Preceded in death by his parents, 6 brothers and 4 sisters.

What do you say about the death of a best friend. One you have known since the early 70’s. One who is not only a business partner for 30 years, but has also been a friend for even longer. One who, just a few days before his death was enjoying dominoes with you. And, you know, it will not happen again. I will miss you very much Del, And when I get to heaven someday I know that I will meet you there. And you will say. “Ah Haa. I beat you.”
