After graduation he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Lincoln, NE in 1961, where he lived until his death.
Dan attended St. Luke United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was a small business owner for nearly 17 years prior to retirement from Motion Industries in 2009.
Dan was a founding member of the 551st Strategic Missile Squadron. One of his proudest achievements was having a bench dedicated to the 551st SMS installed in the Veterans Memorial Garden at Antelope Park in Lincoln in 2009.
He shared that his fondest memories were of the many family vacations taken over the years, including trips to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Japan, Disney Cruises and many trips to other cities and states across the country. The many trips to Table Rock Lake in Kimberling City, MO with friends, family and extended family were an especially joyful memory.
While not fond of Nebraska winters, Dan spoke often of how great it was to live in a city like Lincoln, and in the state of Nebraska and that it was the perfect place to raise a family. A fan of all Husker sports, he often joked that Bob Devaney followed him to Lincoln one year after he arrived! His love of Husker sports even converted many of his family members living in New York to becoming fans.
Dan will be missed by the friends he made in the Air Force and the kind and dear friends he made in Lincoln as well as his family in both Nebraska and New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ogden and Mildred Duffy; and his brothers Douglas, Dale and David and sister in law Jane Duffy; sisters and brothers in law Kathleen and Eldon Kuhn, Mary and Art Palmer, brothers in law Glen Otto and George Richard.
