I worked with Dan at the Lincoln Regional Center. Dan not only was a great person to work with and took good care of the patients we served but he also advocated for the employees. He was a steward for the union for many years. Dan was a great friend to many people and the life of the party. He will be missed. Goodbye my friend thank you for the great memories.

With regret, I cannot be there today but just wanted to extend my condolences to LaVonne and the entire Dilla family. What a legendary SPORTS family he was a part of. I grew up in the same hometown where his dad and his family did, Farwell Nebraska. Without a doubt the Dilla family had sports genes and he and his brother were top athletes in their years. What a proud father -son legacy Dad and Dan Jr. carried on in their many years at the UNL Husker Nation lost a gem. Peace and prayers go out to LaVonne at this time of loss. I am sorry to not be there today.

I had the pleasure of working with Dan at the Community Transition Program at LRC for several years. He always had the safety of others foremost in his mind but he was also very kind and an easy person to talk with, whether one had an issue to discuss or needed a laugh. We shared some deep conversations and funny stories; I sure miss that. He could make us laugh in the toughest times. I hold some great memories of rowdy times outside of work, too. He had a twisted sense of humor, so did I, so did most of us! But in the end, always the gentleman. Dan also took the time to be a union steward where he championed for employees’ rights. He was a good man. When I wear purple, Dan, I think of you and that purple sweatshirt. Ha! Remember to save me that seat! Thank you for being my friend. Rest in peace, Dan. My full hearted condolences to his mother, LaVonne, and the rest of his family.

I have so many wonderful memories of Dan through our work together at the LRC’s CTP program. He was great to patients and staff. We also had a lot of fun at work gatherings. I think one of my favorite memories was the gathering where we had shooting range practice!! I often tell the story of Dan shaking his head when I would come back to the unit for a second time after leaving work because I forgot something I needed. Thank you for your friendship. Rest in peace Dan.

I worked with Dan at LRC. He was always protective and supportive and helped if you needed anything. He got to know my mom when she worked there as an RN and was very supportive when she got sick and passed away. Eternal be his memory 🙏

Dan was a wonderful co-worker at the Lincoln Regional Center’s Community Transition Program. He treated the patients and staff with dignity and respect, knew the program’s mission, and carried out his responsibilities like the true professional he was. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time of Dan’s death.

I worked Event Staff with Dan for many years, but even after I gave it up in 2019, Dan and I always made a point to find each other at events and catch up. Our favorite was goofing on his cousin, and my good friend, Jamie. I pray for the happy repose of Dan’s soul. May his memory be a blessing.
