Dale LaVerne Schuerman, 88, of Lincoln, passed away May 4, 2017. He was born to Benhard and Mable Schuerman on Nov. 2, 1928 in the family farm house located west of Plymouth, which is where he grew up. After marrying the love of his life, Carolyn Ruhnke, on June 26, 1949, they purchased the family farm and lived there until they moved to Lincoln in 1971. Their lives were enriched by the birth of their two daughters, Nancy (Dallas) Kiburz of Lincoln and Jeanne (Lloyd) Scheve of Blair.
While in Lincoln, Dale worked at Ben Simons and First Plymouth Church where he was the facilities manager for 17 years. First Plymouth Church was a special place for Dale and Carolyn, and they were active members for over 45 years.
He is survived by his wife of almost 68 years, Carolyn; daughters, sons-in-law and the grandchildren that brought a sparkle to his eyes. His grandchildren: Adam (Andrea Reynolds) Kiburz and daughter, Carly, of Olathe, Kan.; Joseph (Lisa Marie) of Omaha; Emily (Brian) Grimes and son, Elias, of Lincoln and Lisa Ann Scheve of Omaha; brother, sister-in-law, Gordon and Maril Freese; brother, Gary (Bev) Schuerman; and sister, Gwen (Darold) Rahe.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Lowell and Larry. He also leaves many other family members and friends behind.
Dale’s funeral will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 8, 2017 at First Plymouth Congregational Church.
Visitation with family greeting friends will be held from 4 -6 p.m., Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Roper and Sons Funeral Home, 4300 ‘O’ St., Lincoln.
Memorials should be addressed to First Plymouth Church in his memory.
Cremation to follow funeral services.
