Dale Dean Darling

Dale Dean Darling, 76, passed away in his home March 21, 2019. Dale was born in Auburn, NE, to Joe and Mervalyn (Pasco) Darling. He was a Nebraska Wesleyan graduate and worked the majority of his career for the State of NE as a budget analyst, retiring in 2005. Dale was a proud U.S. Army Vietnam veteran and continued his service to veterans as a dedicated volunteer at the Lincoln VA. He was also a longtime volunteer with the TeamMates Mentoring program.

Dale is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Justin and Braegan Darling of Lincoln and Jason and Shana Baker of Gretna, grandchildren, Savannah, Sierra, and Shelby Baker and Asher and Liam Darling, six siblings, and his many treasured friends. Dale is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Janice, infant children Lonnie and Heather, his parents, step-mother Elnora, and sister Nancy.

Dale will be forever remembered as the kindest and most generous man who always had a smile for everyone. He lived by the motto, “Life is too short not to smile!” Dale believed the best stories and jokes were never meant to be told only once, and tell them he did. He lived for his grandchildren who were his moon and his stars and for his granddog Salinger.
