Corrinne Weisenberg (Sandstedt) Wendt, 88, formerly of Lincoln, NE, our beautiful, loving, and devoted mother and grandmother was an Omaha native born to Harry and Irene (Dolan) Weisenberg on February 9, 1924, and passed away peacefully in Gretna, NE on Sunday, October 14, 2012.
She raised her children in Wahoo and then, after marriage to Dr. Bernard Wendt, moved to Lincoln. Her legacy was her unconditional love for others and living life joyfully in the present, while looking eagerly to the future. Her grandchildren lovingly referred to her as the “energizer bunny” as she twice beat cancer (breast and lung), and over the years sailed through numerous medical procedures with courage, grace, and especially humor. Never one to complain or fret, she took every challenge in stride and came through smiling, eager to live a new day.
In younger years, Corrinne was a scout troop leader and a volunteer for the March of Dimes. She was a frequent volunteer election worker in Saunders County. Always a sports fan, she loved supporting her kids in all their many activities, and attending Nebraska football games, near and far. She was an avid golfer, dancer, and traveler who loved playing bridge and pitch with her friends. She was the best Mom and Grandma, so loved, and will be greatly missed!
Corrinne was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Irene, sister Lorraine Weisenberg, and loving husband Dr. Bernard Wendt. She is survived by her brother Bob (Peg) Weisenberg, children James (Janine) Sandstedt II, Jeffrey (Linda) Sandstedt, Suzanne (David) Miles and Julie (Rick) McCord; stepsons Mark (Dorita) Wendt and Dr. James (Mary Sue) Wendt; grandchildren Michael Sandstedt, Leah (Andy) Will, Chad (Kristin) Sandstedt, Jamie (Peter) Collins, Oliver (Becca) Miles, Corinne (Zeron) Flemister, Nathan (Nicole) Miles, Tyler (Megan) Levey, Brooke (Steve) Masloskie, Andrew Levey, Kady (Justin) Pierce, Leslie (Jeff ) Bazal; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Rest in peace sweet mother and yes, “The Best Is Yet To Come”. She will never be forgotten by anyone whose life she touched.
