Obituary

Connie Ruth (Philippi) Byers

June 29, 1943 - September 24, 2022

Connie Ruth (Philippi) Byers, 79 of Lincoln, NE passed away on September 24, 2022. She was born on June 29, 1943 the daughter of Miley and Elsie Philippi.

She was raised in Havelock in a large, loving family. She graduated from Lincoln Northeast in 1961. She married Kenneth Byers of Reno, PA on May 23, 1965 at Havelock Church of Christian Missionary Alliance. They remained in Lincoln and raised two children, Daniel and Amy. Together they enjoyed traveling, going to lakes, eating out and attending family get togethers. Connie stayed at home in the children’s early years. She worked different jobs once they were in school. She completed her working years at Pfizer after many years. In her retirement she enjoyed shopping, bus trips, a senior bowling league, playing bingo, friends and family. She loved to receive flowers, but they didn’t have to be large bouquets, just a simple one or two. She loved to wear and see tie-dye shirts and the color purple. Most of all, she loved her friends and family and was always generous and caring to her family.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Byers, parents, Elsie and Miley Philippi, brothers Edward and Albert Philippi, brother-in-law Paul Bateman and sister-in-law Thelma Philippi.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel Byers (MaryJill Oleson), daughter, Amy Moyer (Kevin), all of Lincoln, four grandchildren, Noah and Avary Byers and Alexandra and Jacob Moyer, all of Lincoln, two sisters, Beverly Bateman of Lincoln and Janet Bennett (Dion) of Omaha, brother Allen Vasquez of Lincoln, and her best friend, Renae Oliver of Lincoln. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Connie’s life will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Roper and Sons Midtown Chapel, 4300 O St, Lincoln, NE.

A reception will be held immediately following the celebration of life service in the Roper and Sons Reception Room. The family requests that anyone attending the celebration please dress in casual attire. That is what Connie would have wanted.

Rest in peace Connie. I will miss you. I always appreciated your carefree fun-loving approach to life. You appreciated the little things and focused on what’s important-family and friends. Thank you for the supportive, loving Grandma you were to Noah and Avary. We’ll never forget you and will always love you.

Connie saw my pic in the Lincoln newspaper, and then shared that with her mom, than fostered me into the Philippi family as their son. I thank Connie for bringing me into a great family.
