Clarence LeRoy “Roy” Keeney

July 3, 1925 - July 8, 2008

Clarence “Roy” LeRoy Keeney, 83, Lincoln, died suddenly Tuesday (7/8/08). Born Lincoln, Neb. (7-3-1925) to James R. and Mary Bell (Fish) Keeney, Sr. Second eldest of five brothers and four sisters.

Roy joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 during WWII and he earned many medals while he served three years on the USS Wichita as Coxman-1st Class. Twice awarded the title of Admiral of the Great State of Nebraska. Former Manager of Keeney’s APCO Service Station on North 48th Street and Sheet Metal Worker for 20 years, retired from Bryant Heating and Air Conditioning.

Longtime member of Bethany Christian Church. Lifetime member of American Legion Post #3, V.F.W. #3606 and former member Moose Lodge. Two children, Gary and Karen, from a previous marriage and two children, Michael Roy and Kathryn, from 53 year marriage to Jeanette M. (Sestak). Roy loved life. He spent many days fishing, hunting, boating, swimming, skiing and enjoyed many summer hours at his cabin of 40 years at Tuttle Creek Lake in Kansas. Roy also had 11 wonderful winters in Mission, Texas, and made many friends there. Roy was always willing to lend a hand or loan anything he had if it was needed.

His life touched many people and he was loved and will be missed very much by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, sisters, and friends.

Funeral Service: Saturday (7/12/2008), 10 a.m. at Roper & Sons, 4300 “O” Street, Lincoln. Graveside Service at Lincoln Memorial following. Pastor Daryl Lauber officiating.

Memorials to Bethany Christian Church.

Visitation: 5 p.m, Thursday (7/10/08) at Roper & Sons to time of service.
