Clarence J. Meister

August 22, 1925 - October 12, 2013

Clarence J. Meister, 88, of Lincoln, died Saturday (10-12-13). Born (8-22-25) in Humboldt, NE to John and Clara (Rexroth) Meister where Clarence grew up and helped his family on the farm. In the late 40’s he came to Lincoln to attend Nebraska Wesleyan University. Clarence loved music and sang in the men’s glee club and a male quartet.

Shortly after he attended Second Presbyterian Church where he met his wife of 62 years. Soon he attended and graduated from the St. Louis College of Mortuary Science. Upon graduation he joined the staff of Roper and Sons Mortuary where he served for over 40 years. He was a charter member of Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, serving in many ways. He was a former charter member of Sunrise Optimist where he served as secretary for many years. Clarence was a former member of Men’s Christian Chorus. An avid clock collector and builder of many grandfather clocks. He was an honorary member of the Latvian community.

He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Mae (Sittner) Meister; children, Barbara Jo (Kent) Kuwitzky, Martin J. (Rene) Meister, Jack J. (Rhonda) Meister; granddaughters, Molly Meister and Rebecca Keckley; grandsons, Matt and Shayne Rose; 2 great-grandchildren; wonderful nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Frankie Meister; and many special friends. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Orma Carpenter; brothers, Ralph and Glenn Meister.

Funeral Service: 10:30 am Wednesday (10-16-13) Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church, 8300 East Pointe Rd.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church Building and Ground Committee. Visitation 2-8 pm Tuesday at Roper and Sons, 4300 ‘O’ St.
